Jordan Spates is still on the loose after allegedly shooting an officer in Rockford
Note: Jarrion Moore is the one police arrested during the investigation, while searching for the alleged shooter Jordan Spates.
As of 4:30 pm the suspect is still at large. The area near Springfield / Main Street and Ogliby is open again for normal traffic.
What we can confirm is the following
UPDATE: At 6:52 am, police have secured the police perimeter. The suspect is still at large. If you live in this area, that means you are now able to go back to your residence.
- Officer has been shot in Rockford, and is reported to be in stable condition
- Very large police perimeter setup. Avoid the area (See more info below)
- Police SWAT team are on scene
- Illinois State Police aircraft is circling the area
- Police helicopter is en route from the Rockford Airport to assist.
Sounds like it may have come from the Chicago area
- Several police K-9’s are on scene
- Officers from several departments are assisting in the search
Perimeter: S Main and Harrison/Springfield, north to Ogilby. West to Lowes Distribution Center and back to S Main and Harrison.
If you live in the area of the perimeter. Police said stay inside and lock your doors. Report any suspicious activity. If you have to leave, they will search your vehicle for the suspect. If you live in that area and are not home, they will not allow you to go back to your home until the perimeter is secure.
If you work at Lowes Distribution, you can get to work.
You will need to take the bypass, to get to work.
The suspect is reported to be a black male, skinny build, short hair, and last seen wearing a white shirt.

Approximately one hour ago, a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was shot during a traffic stop at South Main and Springfield. During the traffic stop a lone male gunman fired at the Deputy and fled the area on foot.
A man hunt in that area is ongoing right now. The Deputy was rushed to the hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening wounds.
