Once again RPD failed to put another
big call in their call log
On Wednesday, September 6, 2017 shortly after 5:00 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Hanson Street in reference to a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they determined the male subject involved in the domestic dispute walked into the unattached garage of the residence and refused to come out. As officers attempted to convince the subject to exit the garage, they began to smell gasoline fumes and backed away. During the investigation, officers learned the subject, later identified as Michael Michener, was wanted on a no bond domestic battery warrant from a prior incident. The Rockford Police Department Negotiations Unit responded to the scene and after several hours convinced Michener to surrender to officers.
ARRESTED: Michael E. Michener, 53 years old, Rockford, Ill.
CHARGE: No Bond Domestic Battery Warrant
The charges against Michener are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Michener is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Details are minimal right now. Around 630am emergency personnel were on scene of a barricaded suspect in Rockford. It happened on Hanson, on Rockford East side. The suspect barricaded himself in the garage area and poured gasoline all over. This is still developing.
