On August 15, 2017 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 1500 block of 12th Avenue for a report of a subject armed with a handgun. Upon arrival officers made contact with 28-year-old Rockford resident Karina Perez and 34-year-old Rockford resident Fred Williams. During the investigation, officers found Perez and Williams to be in possession of a handgun. Officers learned that the handgun was reported stolen out of Rockford.
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office were contacted and authorized the following charges:
Karina Perez: Possession of Stolen Property/No FOID card
Fred Williams: Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon/Possession of Stolen Property
Both Perez and Williams were taken into custody and transported to the Winnebago County Jail.
This is an ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time.
The charges against Perez and Williams are merely accusations. They are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
