On Thursday, August 24, 2017, shortly before 4:30 p.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to an apartment in the 4200 block of Auburn Street in reference to a violent domestic dispute. When they arrived officers learned that the suspect, 27-year-old Jalesa Collier, had been involved in a dispute with a male victim with whom she had a domestic relationship. During the dispute Collier stabbed the victim with a knife. Collier was taken into custody at the scene without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result Jalesa Collier was arrested on the listed charges and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
ARRESTED: Jalesa Collier, 27-years-old, Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Aggravated Battery with a Knife
The charges against Collier are merely accusations and not evidence of her guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Collier is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Due to the domestic nature of the incident no further information is available
