On Tuesday August 8th, 2017 at approximately 4:05 pm, The Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of S. Il Rt 26 and Henry Rd. (Polo). Along with Deputies, Polo EMS and Fire also responded to the scene. It was determined during the investigation that a westbound vehicle on Henry Rd. driven by Stevie Thomas (F/W age 18 of Sterling) failed to stop at the stop intersection with Il. Rt 26.
Thomas’ vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Klint Singley (M/W age 42 of Polo) which wasn’t required to stop. Both vehicles entered the westbound ditch after the collision where they came to a rest.
Singley was treated at the scene by Polo EMS and later transported to the KSB Hospital in Dixon for non life threatening injuries. Thomas’ front seat passenger (F/W age 16 of Dixon) was treated at the scene by Polo EMS and then transported to KSB Hospital for her injuries.
Thomas had to be extricated from the vehicle by Polo Fire and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by Polo Police, Illinois State Police, Mount Morris EMS and Lifeline helicopter.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
