On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, shortly before 9:00 p.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 1700 block of Auburn Street. When they arrived officer located the victim, a 16-year-old male, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, 18-year-old Charles Jackson Jr.
On Saturday, July 15, 2017, at about 6:00 p.m. Jackson was located in the 800 block of 19th Street, where he was taken into custody on the warrant. Jackson was then lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
No Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID)
BOND: $1 million / 10%
The charges against Jackson are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Jackson is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
