There were around 20 “Simple Battery” calls in Rockford yesterday

(a) A person commits battery if he or she knowingly without legal justification by any means (1) causes bodily harm to an individual or (2) makes physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with an individual.
Battery is a Class A misdemeanor.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. the Rockford Police Department received numerous reports, 11 of which have been verified, involving subjects in a red Jeep SUV firing a BB gun at pedestrians and parked vehicles. The occupants of the suspect vehicle are described as black males in their late teens to early 20’s.
Reported incidents occurred in various locations including the northwest, southeast, and northeast areas of the city. Results of the incidents ranged from property damage to vehicles to several victims being treated for injuries at local hospitals.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department are actively investigating these incidents
Several more fans have contacted us and sent us photos of their injuries after being shot by some type of pellet gun over the weekend and yesterday. At least 11 shooting incidents happened in Rockford, just yesterday alone.
