On Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at approximately 4:25 p.m., officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a complaint of an aggravated battery and vehicle invasion involving multiple victims (Including children) in the 500 block of Island Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 19-year-old victim who reported being battered by three suspects. The suspect fled the area and was followed by a witness who alerted the police of the suspects’ whereabouts. Officers responded to the location of the witness and took two of the three suspects into custody.
Two of the three suspects were transported back to the 500 block of Island Avenue and were positively identified by one of the victims.
A 15-year-old black male and a 16-year old black male were taken into custody and transported to the juvenile detention center where they were lodged on the following charges: aggravated battery, mob action, theft, criminal damage to vehicle, disorderly conduct, vehicular invasion and endangering the life of a child.
Due to the suspects being minors, no photos are available. The third suspect is still at large.
The charges against the juveniles are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
