On 06-07-17 investigators with the Janesville Police Department detective bureau arrested the follow person at the Rock County Jail for his involvement in the shooting incident on June 5th at the intersection of Johnson St and Center Ave:
Sundiata M Roach 21yrs old
167 Linn St
Charge: First Degree Reckless Endangering Safety (Felony)
It appears the shooting was a result of an ongoing dispute between the victim and Roach over money.
On 06-06-17 investigators with the JPD detective bureau and Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on a storage shed located in the city and recovered a handgun which may have been used in this incident.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing however, Roach is believed to be the sole suspect/shooter in actual shooting incident.
Roach is being held at the Rock County Jail for court on the new charges as well as on a probation ho ld.
On 6/5/2017 at 11:10 AM Janesville Police Department Patrol units responded to the area of Center Ave and Johnson St for Shots Fired. Three shots were heard by reporting persons.
Officers found spent shell casings in the roadway. A vehicle was found in the area. It had bullet holes in it. The suspect in this incident has been located and taken into custody without incident. The suspect is being held at the Rock County Jail, however, has not been formally charged at this point.
It was determined the parties involved are known to each other from past disturbance complaints. No one was struck or injured. Names are not being released at this point pending further investigation. This incident does not appear to be random. The focus was on the parties involved. There are no indications of concern for public safety.
