ROCKFORD, Ill. – On Sunday 6/18/17 at around 0510 hours, Officers responded to 3000 block of Bildahl St. in reference to a call for gunshots. Officers arrived and discovered the residence and two vehicles were struck by bullets. Witnesses described hearing the shots and observing a tan van leave the scene. Officers later located 4 spent .380 casings along the roadway.
At approximately 0630hrs, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies located a van matching the description provided for the earlier incident in the 7400 block of Mildred Dr. Machesney Park. Deputies spoke with the owner of the van as well as a subject who had been driving the van. Officers located a .380 handgun wrapped in a black ski mask.
The incident was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office who authorized charges of,
Armed Habitual Offender and Felon in possession of a Firearm for 31-year-old Ronn J. Stonecipher of Rockford, Ill.
Stonecipher was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of bond. This is an active investigation and no additional information is available at this time. Additional information may be released as it becomes available.
The charges against Stonecipher are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Stonecipher is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
