Rockford Scanner fan Shawnae Yearton:
Actually what had happened was there was reports of suspicious activity in that area cause the kid was lurking in peoples bushes. When the cops spotted him, they noticed there was something in the kids hand, the kid kept screaming “I’m not going back to jail” and refused to drop the weapon he had. Its unknown if the gun was an actual gun or a bb gun. But the kid was told 7-10 times to put the weapon down and he didn’t. And actually, he was shot in the abdomen. The kid is okay and believed to be home. Not only that, this “innocent” child has been selling drugs in the high school (says his classmates). And he had juvenile warrants out for him. The officer is on administrative leave ( policy for when there is an officer involved shooting). And the chief of police, Solarz will be releasing more information about it tomorrow (Monday).
UPDATE from Rockford Scanner fan: Police involved shooting in Marengo.
Update from another fan: Cops came and ask did you call on about kids being loud and we said no, about 30 minutes later you hear cops screaming “hands up” and then we heard a gunshot. The cop shot the suspect ,(in front of our house ) The suspect was moving after being shot. Multiple emergency personnel are on scene including a helicopter.
