On April 5, 2017, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Rockford Police Officers observed a security guard at W & S Food and Liquor, 1317 Broadway, holding a subject, later identified as Ryan L. Allen, at gun point. Officers immediately stopped and placed Allen into custody without incident. Upon investigation, officers determined Allen became disorderly in the store and the owners asked him to leave. When he refused, a uniformed security guard approached Allen and instructed him to vacate the premises. Allen refused to leave and a struggled ensued between Allen and the security guard. During the struggle, Allen grabbed ahold of the guard’s large flash light and used it to strike him in the head and chest. The guard was able to push Allen back and pulled his duty sidearm for protection. Soon after Allen dropped the flashlight, Rockford Police Officers arrived and safely placed Allen into custody.
At the conclusion of the investigation, officers arrested:
ARRESTED: Ryan L. Allen 31-years-old
CHARGES: Aggravated Battery
Criminal Trespass to Property
Criminal Damage to Property
Officers lodged Allen in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.
The charges against Allen are merely accusations and not evidence of their guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases, Allen is considered innocent until proven guilty.
