On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at around 9:00 p.m., officers from the Rockford Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of Revell Avenue to investigate reports of gunshots being fired. Officers found evidence of multiple guns being fired and a blood trail going into a residence. An emergency search of that residence for injured persons revealed occupants, but none who were injured. Officers observed a rifle in plain view. The occupants were not forthcoming with information about the shooting.
During this time, a male in his twenties arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds that appeared to have been caused by a small-caliber firearm. That man was also uncooperative, but there is reason to believe he had been shot on Revell.
As the investigation proceeded, the resident of the Revell address returned home. He was identified as 30-year-old Gregory Weaver and discovered to be a felon who had no Firearms Owners Identification. Weaver was arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Unlawful Possession), and No Firearms Owners Identification.
On 4-26-17 at 2102 hours Officers responded to the 1300 block of Revell for calls of shots fired. While responding to the scene a 22 year old shooting victim walked into a local emergency room with non-life threatening injuries. Officers located a scene in the 1300 block of Revell.
Witnesses observed a dark colored vehicle stopped in the street speaking with an unknown subject. An argument ensued at which time gunshots were heard. The vehicle then fled west on Revell. There was no further suspect description. The victim was not willing to provide any information while at the hospital.
