On Sunday, April 23, 2017 at around 1:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Kishwaukee Tap, 2327 Kishwaukee Street, for a large fight in the bar. The first officers to respond were notified of a suspect in vehicle in the parking lot. The officers approached the vehicle where it had parked and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver instead drove his vehicle at the officers who were forced to evade the vehicle in order to not be struck by it. The officers were not injured. The driver fled in the vehicle and officers pursued in squad cars. The suspect stopped after a short vehicle pursuit and fled on foot. A short time later the driver, identified as 30-year-old Robbie Green of Rockford, was located and arrested nearby.
Green was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Driving while License Revoked, Fleeing to Elude, and Resisting Arrest.
The charges against the suspect are mere accusations and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
