I just wanted to briefly touch on our chances for Severe Weather today across the area.
The Storm Prediction Center, SPC as I will reference it from here on out, has put the area under a Marginal to Slight risk for severe weather today this is as of 8:00 am. This will update another two times through out the day, with the next one coming out around 11:30 am local time. The main threat today being large hail, up to golf ball size possible, and winds up to 65 mph or greater. With that being said, a 2-5% risk of tornadoes does exist today as well for the risk of an isolated tornado. I feel this risk area will shift south a little bit with later updates, but that does not mean to not be prepared!
Here is the latest graphic from the NWS in Chicago for today’s severe weather. This will be updated as the day goes on, but as of right now we can expect storms between 1 pm and 8 pm. Be sure to have multiple ways of receiving severe weather alerts today. A weather radio always being a great investment! Other sources being the radio, TV, or your phone.
