On Thursday, April 6, 2017, at shortly before 8:30 p.m., patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the Family Dollar, 3824 Broadway, in reference to a robbery. When they arrived officers learned that the suspect, a black male with long dreadlocks, had grabbed money from an open cash register and fled the store. Officers searched the surrounding area for the suspect with negative results. No one was injured during the incident.
On Saturday, April 8, 2017, shortly before 9:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to the Family Dollar, 3824 Auburn Street, in reference to another robbery. When they arrived officers learned that a black male suspect, with a similar description as the suspect from the earlier robbery, had grabbed money from an open cash register and fled the scene.
The suspect in both incidents is described as follows:
Black Male in his mid-to-late 20’s
Photos of the suspect were recovered from the surveillance video in both stores and are attached.
The Rockford Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Officers responded to the Family Dollar at 3824 Broadway in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival Officers learned a black male tried taking money from an open register. A female employee and the suspect engaged in a small struggle over the money. The suspect fled northbound and got into a black Dodge Durango with an unknown amount of USC.
