On Friday, March 17, at about 1:30 AM, a Loves Park patrol officer observed Derik T. Fort (36) crossing the 6600 block of Riverside Blvd. The officer knew that Fort was wanted on an aggravated domestic battery warrant, but when the officer attempted to stop him, he ran southbound. Additional officers & a K-9 responded to the area.
During a search for Fort along the south side of Riverside Blvd., other officers also began surveillance of residences in the area Fort is known to have association with, including in the 7100 block of Sue Lane & the 8800 block of Harvest Hills Tr.
During the surveillance, officers observed a van return to the home in the 8800 block of Harvest Hills Tr., that had left the residence about the time Fort ran from the officer. When backup units arrived on Harvest Hills, the officers searched the van, but Fort was not located. Officers also searched a residence on Sue Lane, but Fort was not located there either.
On Monday, March 20, Loves Park patrol officers & investigators went to nearly a dozen homes in the Rockford area that Fort is known to have associations with, however Fort was not found.
