UPDATE: It was originally reported there was an ethanol spill. Officials are now saying there is no spill and no injuries. But the area is being diverted for many hours, so avoid the area.
Train Derailment, west of Lena. 8 cars involved from 2 trains that were passing. No Injuries. No Chemical spills. Federal Investigators on the way. Only rail crossing in Lena that is open is at town line road. Unknown when the other crossings will be open. (Lena social media)
Scanner traffic said they plan on moving the train around 8am. Investigators are on scene.
Around 12:40 am tonight several emergency personnel were responding to a train derailment. It happened near Townline and Main. Sounds like near Freeport/Lena area. Initial reports are saying: The train derailment has caused an ethanol spill. No injuries have been reported yet. All the lanes of traffic in the area are blocked. Still developing
UPDATE: Canadian National has been notified. Sounds like there was a washout. Sounds like 2 trains were in the area and may have been involved via scanner traffic. No reports of injuries at this time. They are talking about possible evacuations, but have yet to do so.
UPDATE: No trains overturned, but are leaning and touching each other. Every train crossing in town is blocked. Avoid the area! The only one that is not blocked, is near Cedarville rd.
