Rockford Scanner Fan Rick Jones is Reporting:
“I went to the 11th ward alderman meeting at Katie’s Cup on 7th Street. I only had one topic and that was the crime spike due to police radio signal encryption.
I said that I thought the police encrypting their radio signal then asking for the public’s help on anything is disingenuous.
Crime has increased, not decreased since encryption.
I also said no one asked me if I wanted to pay for encryption equipment but I’d be willing to pay to go back to the unencrypted system.
Alderman Karen Elyea wrote down notes and mentioned that our Aldermen got “Talked Into” voting for encryption.
Lisa Palmeno said she didn’t know and would have to look into it.
Tuffy Quinonez was having trouble hearing today and had no comment.
Rick Jones said he came forward with this information, in hopes of other citizens to speak up as well against the encryption and the truth gets told. And he is happy that the alderman came out with the truth today on how the aldermen were “Talked Into” voting and approving the encryption.
