On Saturday morning, February 4, Loves Park Officers responded to burglaries at the Foot Lodge, 6364 Sebring Way, Krenek’s Clock Haven, 5124 N. 2nd St. & Olive Oil Experience, 6340 East Riverside Blvd.
On Monday morning, February 6, officers responded to burglaries at Eco-Water Systems, 6206 Forest Hills Rd. & Fleet Services, 954 Rivers Ln.
On Tuesday, February 7, Detectives from Loves Park Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department & Rockford Police Department began surveillance related to a series of previously reported burglaries.
On Wednesday, February 8, at around 7:00 AM, Detectives working the surveillance observed a male exiting through a back door of the Smoke Shop, 10129 N. 2nd St., in Machesney Park. The man was approached & taken into custody without incident. Detectives discovered that there had been forced entry through the rear door of the business.
Alfred A. Hoskins (57) of Loves Park was charged with burglary to the Smoke Shop in Machesney Park, the Olive Oil Experience in Loves Park & Azimuth Scuba, 4315 E. State St., in Rockford.
According to the Illinois Department of Corrections public records, Hoskins has been sentenced to the Department of Corrections five times for burglaries, including a three year sentence in 1982, three year sentence in 1997, seven year sentence in 2003, eight year sentence in 2005 & fifteen year sentence in 2009. He was paroled November 10, 2016.
Criminal charges are merely allegations & defendants are considered innocent, unless proven guilty in a Court of Law.
UPDATE: After we posted this, a RS fan contacted us and said police arrested a person for burglarizing Jacks Smoke Shop. The suspect parked their vehicle at McDonalds. The police caught the suspect as they tried to flee. The suspect is allegedly wanted on many burglaries. We are awaiting to hear back from the police for more information.
A couple Rockford Scanner fans said there was a police bust (possibly a drug bust) at the McDonalds on N Second st earlier today. RS fans said there were multiple police agencies on scene. No other information.
