During the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 22, 2017, patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a residence in the 1400 block of 8th Avenue in reference to a stabbing incident. When they arrived officers located the victim, a 28-year-old male, who was suffering from superficial stab wounds. During the on-scene investigation, officers were able to determine that the victim was attempting to purchase illegal narcotics from the suspect when an argument occurred. The suspect, described as a black male in his 20’s, apparently stabbed the victim several times with an unknown type of knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
“While it is unfortunate to have anyone become a victim of crime, we ask that citizens not engage in illegal activity,” said Chief Dan O’Shea.
Around 3:15 am this morning the RFD were dispatched for a stabbing call. Scanner traffic is saying there is a person that is reported to have been stabbed in the 1400 block of 8th ave in Rockford. The suspect information is not known, due to RPD being encrypted. No other information at this time.
