On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, a three month investigation, by the Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, resulted in the arrest of a Belvidere resident on felony drug charges.
Jorge Florentino-Hernandez, age 30 (Belvidere), was charged with one count of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine 1-15 grams (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine 15-100 grams (Class X Felony). Florentino-Hernandez remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with a bond of $100,000.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. A Class X Felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the Department of Corrections. A Class 1 Felony is punishable by 4-15 years in the Department of Corrections.
