On Thursday, February 16, 2017, detectives from the Rockford Police Department Gang Unit and members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Violent Crimes Task Force served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue. An adult male and adult female were located inside the residence. A search revealed an amount of a substance containing cannabis and live handgun ammunition.
The adult female was released without charge. The adult male, 30-year-old Christopher Lerma, was arrested and charged with the following:
ARRESTED: Christopher Lerma 30 years old Rockford, Ill.
CHARGES: Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon
Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
No Firearms Owner’s Identification (F.O.I.D.)
Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver
Criminal Fortification of a Residence
Lerma was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bail. A photo of Lerma is attached.
The charges against Lerma are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Lerma is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
