On Saturday, January 28, 2017 shortly after 6:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to an address in the 200 block of Adams Street regarding a domestic disturbance. Officer learned that a 23-year-old Rockford man, who was later identified as Delafonta Person, arrived at the home and was turned away by the occupants. Person then forced his way into the residence and physically fought with one of the occupants who he pushed out of the home and locked outside. A neighbor observed this altercation and forced his way into the home to assist the remaining residents in detaining Person until the police arrived.
Delafonta Person was taken into custody by police and was subsequently found to be in possession of less than 10 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana. Person was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail and held in lieu of bond on the following charges:

CHARGES: Home Invasion
Violation of CCA

The charges against Person are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Person is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
