On Tuesday January 10, 2017 shortly after 1:00 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to an apartment building in the 4800 block of Creekview Road in reference to a Burglary in progress. When they arrived officers discovered a vacant apartment which had been broken into. Officers then located two suspects, a 20 year old male and a 16 year old juvenile male, in a vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment building. An on-scene investigation determined that the suspects were responsible for the Burglary. They were taken into custody and subsequently charged with the following offenses:
ARRESTED: Jacob Okeson 20 years old Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Burglary
Possession of Burglary Tools
Possession of Alcohol by a Minor
ARRESTED: 16 year old juvenile Male Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Burglary
Possession of Burglary Tools
Criminal Damage to Property
Okeson was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond. The 16 year old male, who was also an active Runaway, was lodged in the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center.
The charges against both suspects are merely accusations and not evidence of their guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases they are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court
