On Friday 12/23/16 at 8:43pm Rockford Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of S Johnston St in response to a call for a possible shooting victim. While officers were enroute to the scene a local hospital reported the arrival of a 30 years old male suffering from two gunshot wounds to his groin area. Additional officers responded to the hospital to investigate. At the time of the post it is believed the victim’s injury in non-life threatening.
Preliminary information revealed the victim had become involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect in the 1900 block of Knowlton Street. The victim then drove away from the area however his vehicle became disabled in a snow bank in the 1300 block of S Johnston Street. The suspect again confronted the victim and this time shot him with a handgun, twice to his groin area. The suspect was described as black male with a large build wearing all black including a black ski mask. The suspect then ran from the area. The victim was transported to the hospital by friends.
