On December 24th and 25th, 2016 a series of Armed Robbery to citizen incidents were reported to the Rockford Police Department. The robberies encompassed areas of the city from the Northeast side to the far West side.
On December 25, 2016 at about 11:30 p.m. an Armed Robbery incident was reported in the parking lot of Kona Liquor, 3109 West State Street. A short time later patrol officers located the suspect vehicle, a maroon Chevrolet SUV, near the intersection of Kishwaukee Street and 15th Avenue. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle it fled and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle eventually crashed near the intersection of South Main Street and Clifton Avenue. Two of the three occupants were located and taken into custody. A third occupant, believed to be the driver, was not located.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incidents.
The results were later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result one of the occupants, 31 year old Frank Benjamin, was released without charge. The second occupant, 32 year old Paul Holliman, was charged with Resisting/Obstructing Police and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. Holliman has since bonded out. On Wednesday December 29, 2016 a Possession of Stolen Property warrant was issued for Frank Benjamin in regards to this investigation. Benjamin has yet to be taken into custody and his whereabouts are unknown.

Benjamin has yet to be taken into custody and his whereabouts are unknown. Investigators continue to investigate the robberies and the possibility that they are all related.
Photos of both Holliman and Benjamin are attached electronically to this press release. The charges against Holliman and Benjamin are merely accusations and not evidence of their guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases they are considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
On Sunday, 12/25/16 at around 11:20 PM, Rockford Police responded to 3109 W State St (N & N Liquors Parking Lot) in reference to an armed robbery to a citizen. Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim, a 33 year old black male Rockford resident. The victim stated he had just purchased items in the store. Upon exiting the store, he was approached from behind by the suspect. The suspect pointed a dark handgun at the victim and demanded money. The victim gave him his money and then told the victim to give him his gold watch. The victim complied and then the suspect left on foot northbound behind the business. The victim was not injured during the incident.
Black male with light brown skin complexion, mid 20’s in age, around 5’10” tall, around 160-170 lbs, braided hair, wearing a black hoody, red pants, white shoes and a black half ski mask with a white skeleton face on the mask. The suspect was in possession of a dark colored handgun.

This one happened in the area of the food and liquor store near 3309 South Main. Suspect is a black male, 6 foot, medium build, wearing a black mask with white skeleton. Last seen on foot
Unknown if related, but many fans are saying multiple officers have the area of S Main and 15th completely blocked off.
UPDATE: This scene near S Main and 15th, is from an armed robbery and vehicle hijacking that happened earlier. Police chased the suspects and have 2 suspects in custody near S Main and 15th. At least one more is still on the loose in the area.
