On October 10th, 2016, at 5:56 PM., the Rockford Police Department responded to a call for shots fired in the area of Gordon Ave and Burton St. Upon arrival officers met with the three victims who advised that they had met with subjects in a black unknown type sport utility vehicle with the intent to buy marijuana for their personal use. During their contact the rear passenger produced a hand gun and fired two rounds in the victim’s direction as they ran from the scene. The suspect vehicle fled in an unknown direction.  The suspect with the gun was described as a black male in his 20’s with long braids in his hair.  No description of the other suspects in the vehicle was available at this time.


No one was injured and nothing was found to have been struck by gunfire. There were two shell casings recovered at the scene.
