“Around 4 pm today the Dollar General on Charles St was robbed and then the suspect robbed Dollar General on Kiswaukee just after that, that robbery was around 4:20pm. Believed to be the same suspect”

- On Wednesday October 26, 2016 shortly before 4:00 p.m., patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to Dollar General, 1015 Charles Street, in reference to an armed robbery to the business. When they arrived officers learned that the suspect entered the store and approached a cashier. The suspect then displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene after obtaining an undisclosed amount of currency.At short time later at approximately 4:15 p.m., another call for an armed robbery was received from the Dollar General, 1405 Kishwaukee Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect, who matched the description of the suspect from the first incident, entered the store and approached a cashier. The suspect again displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene on foot after obtaining an undisclosed amount of currency. No one was injured in either incident.
Based on the information available at this time the suspect is described as follows:
Black Male in his late 20’s to early 40’s
5’10 to 6’0 tall with a medium build
Wearing a Black knit cap, Dark Jacket, Black shirt, and Blue Jeans
Skin discoloration on his bottom lip
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for these two incidents.
