Below is a recap of yesterdays shootings:
- On 10-23-16 at about 0301 hours Officers were in the area of N. Rockton and Locust when they heard several shots being fired in the area. Officers located several spent shell casings in the road in the 600 block of N. Rockton however located no one in the area. At 0312 hours Rockford Memorial Hospital reported a walk in shooting victim. Officers responded to the hospital where they met with a (27) year old male who had suffered a non-lie threatening gunshot wound to the right leg. The male reported to officers that he was walking in the 600 block of N. Rockton Ave when he heard several shots being fired. The male stated he was hit by gunfire in the leg and then began to run southbound and flagged a car down being driven by unknown persons who drove him to the hospital. The investigation of this incident is currently ongoing.
- On 10-23-16 at about 0414 hours Officers were dispatched to the area 1400 Grant Ave for shots heard in the area. On arrival to the area Officers observed a dark colored sedan leaving the area at a high rate of speed. This vehicle was stopped and contained (3) male occupants. One of the occupants of the vehicle, a (25) year old male, had sustained a gunshot wound to the right knee. This male was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he was treated for the non-life threatening gunshot wound. The male advised officers that he was going to an after hours party in the 1400 block of Grant Ave when he was approached by a heavy set black male wearing a hockey mask and holding a dark colored handgun. The suspect made a statement to the victim and then shot him one time in the knee. The victim ran to his car with two friends and left the scene quickly driving to the hospital. This investigation is currently ongoing.
- On Sunday, October 23, at around 6:15 PM, Officers of the Rockford Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Chestnut St reference calls for service for a Shooting Victim. Upon arrival Officers located a 45 year old Rockford woman who was the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment of her injury. Witnesses on-scene described a single suspect shooting in the direction of the victim from across the street. This suspect fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. No arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
