On October 2, 2016, members of the Rockford Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement team and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Grant Park Tavern, 3015 Kishwaukee Street in reference to a call for shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located shell casings in the street in front of the bar. The investigation revealed that a subject, later identified as 24-year-old Rockford resident Antonio Pavey, pointed a handgun at patrons inside the bar. He then made his way outside and fired several shots into the air. He subsequently fled the scene on foot.
Officers learned the suspect lived in a residence in the 800 block of Barnum Road. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Pavey. A handgun, gun box, spent ammunition, and the magazine to a semi-automatic handgun were located. Pavey was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:
Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Aggravated Assault
Pavey was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. A photo of Pavey is attached.
