UPDATE:

On September 7, 2016 at approximately 2:09 p.m., officers from the Rockford Police Department were called to the 1800 block of Ridge Avenue in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers learned that an individual had heard a gunshot and observed two males leaving the area. Shortly thereafter, Rockford Police were called to the 1800 block of Carney for a report of a residential burglary. The victim provided the officers a description of the suspects and a Rockford Police detective, upon checking the area, observed two subjects matching the descriptions. The two subjects were detained and transported to the public safety building for questioning.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. During the investigation it was learned that the victim of the Residential Burglary had fired a single round in the air from a handgun during the incident. The investigation was reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized:

ARRESTED: Dreshaun Parker 19-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Residential Burglary
Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons
No Firearm Owner’s Identification

ARRESTED: Curtis Hillard 20-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGE: Residential Burglary

The victim of the Residential Burglary was released without charge.  No further information is available for release at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
