UPDATE: On Wednesday, September 07, 2016 at approximately 3:30 pm, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Beloit Road and Orth Road, Belvidere.
Preliminary investigation shows that a First Student School Bus carrying approximately 32 Belvidere District 100 students was traveling north on Beloit Road. A passenger vehicle traveling west on Orth Road failed to yield, striking the bus. The bus continued north, tipping on its side.
Boone County District #3 Fire and twelve ambulances from Boone County, McHenry County, Dekalb County, Winnebago County and Rock County (Wisconsin) responded to the scene. The drivers of both vehicles and ten students were transported to four area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Most students were treated at the scene and released to their parents.
A quick response and assistance by first responders, school personnel, bus personnel, residents and parents are credited for making the incident manageable. The accident is still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
The names of the drivers are not being released at this time
Around 3:32 pm today several emergency personnel were responding to a school bus rollover accident. it happened in Boone County near Beloit and Orth road. Scanner traffic said the bus is on its side. At the time of dispatch, injuries were unknown. Still developing.
UPDATE: Entrapment is being reported on the bus. Someone has hand stuck under bus. Multiple ambulances dispatched. Medical helicopter en route. They have toned out a MABAS (Mutual aid) for ambulances only. Sounds like there are multiple patients injured. One person critically injured. They said this is a “Mass causality event” which means many people injured (could be from minor to serious)
