OWI-5th Offense Arrest
On 09/24/16 at 9:05 P.M., an officer of the Janesville Police Department observed a vehicle violate a traffic control signal at the intersection of US Highway 51 and W. Delavan Dr. almost causing a collision. The officer later stopped the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Rockport Rd. and Linn St. The officer had contact with the driver, Edward A. Strzyzykowski, who smelled of the odor of intoxicants and displayed other signs of impairment by alcohol.
Strzyzykowski refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test. Strzyzykowski was arrested for OWI-5th offense. A check of his driver’s license showed 4 prior convictions for alcohol related incidents and a revoked driving status.
Once in custody, Strzyzykowski became uncooperative and made threats to harm the arresting officer. He was transported directly to the Rock County Jail. At the jail, Strzyzykowski continued to be uncooperative and refused to provide a sample of his blood for evidentiary testing. A search warrant was drafted by the officer and the blood sample was eventually obtained. The results of the blood sample are currently pending.
Strzyzykowski remains at the Rock County Jail awaiting an initial court appearance.
