Flood Watch remains in effect from 4 PM CDT this afternoon
through late tonight…

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north central Illinois…including the following
areas…Boone…De Kalb…Lee…Ogle and Winnebago.

* From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through late tonight.

* Widespread thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected across
north central Illinois this evening… possibly beginning as
early as late this afternoon. Rainfall rates of one to two
inches per hour or even higher are likely with some of the
thunderstorms. In addition… thunderstorms may train over the
same areas for a period this evening. Isolated rainfall
amounts of three or more inches are probable in the north
central Illinois region.

* Given the still wet conditions from August and elevated
streamflow on some area creeks and streams… quick flooding
known as flash flooding could become a concern this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
