On Sunday, September 18, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Rockford Police Department patrol officers responded to a residence in the 6200 block of Spring Brook Road in reference to a domestic related incident. When they arrived, officers learned that the residence was occupied by a 78-year-old male and his 41-year-old girlfriend. The incident was the result of a dispute between the couple and the children of the female resident, a 15-year-old son and a 22-year-old daughter, Sarah Aves. During the incident the 15-year-old son and his friend, 25-year-old Joe Silva, forced their way into the residence. The 15-year-old son then battered the 78-year-old male resident. During the incident the suspects also broke out several windows of the victim’s vehicle which was parked in the driveway. All three suspects then fled the scene prior to police arriving.
On Monday, September 19, 2016 shortly after 1:30 a.m. deputies from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police located the three suspects at an apartment in the 5200 block of Linden Road. The suspects were taken into custody without incident and charged with the following crimes:
ARRESTED: Juvenile Male 15-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Aggravated Battery to a Senior Citizen
Criminal Trespass to Residence
Criminal Damage to Vehicle
Dekalb County Juvenile Custody Warrant
ARRESTED: Sarah Aves 22-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGE: Criminal Damage to Vehicle
ARRESTED: Joe Silva 25-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Criminal Trespass to Residence
Criminal Damage to Vehicle
The names of the victims are not being released due to the domestic nature of the incident. No photos of the suspects are available at this time.
No further information is available for release at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
All charges are merely allegations and parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
