Armed Robbery In Rockford
Update: At approximately 3:35pm on January 1, 2014 Officers responded to the Neighborhood Market, 1102 Ferguson Street, reference an Armed Robbery to the business. Upon arrival, the victim advised he was working the register when two subjects entered the store
The subjects purchased two bags of chips and then one suspect pulled a black handgun and pointed it at clerk demanding money. The clerk gave the suspect currency and then both suspects fled the area southwest on foot.
Moments after the Armed Robbery, a Rockford Police Officer observed a subject matching the description of one of the suspects walking near the intersection of Loomis Street and Sanford Street. The subject, later identified as Marvin G. Prince (12/11/1996), had two bags of chips with him and three .40 caliber bullets in his pocket. Marvin Prince was transported to the Neighborhood Market and subsequently identified by the clerk as one of the suspects.
Officers were led to a home in the 1500 block S. Central Avenue where they located the second suspect Jacoby Evans (08/05/1995). Evidence of the armed robbery were located in the house including a .22 caliber handgun, which was reported stolen out of Georgia.
Jacoby Evans was charged with:
· Armed Robbery
· Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon
· Possession of a Stolen Firearm
· No Firearm Owner’s Identification
Marvin Prince was charged with:
- Armed Robbery
- No Firearm Owner’s Identification (ammunition)
The charges against Evans and Prince are accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
